Announcing Photo Caption Contest Winner!

Congratulations to our photo caption contest winner, Nurit Ward Artist!  Nurit entered her caption, "Universal Kiss Day Everyday," on Facebook.  With Valentine's Day only a few days away, it seemed appropriate to feature bonobos for our first caption contest.  Bonobos are our kissing cousins who "make love, not war" and enjoy a peaceful, cooperative society.

Here are few more of our favorite caption submissions:

"I love my mama!"  -Mathea Morais
"Can I have a kiss?"  -About Primates
"Make love, not war!  Hugs & kisses from the DRC."  -Thirza Loffeld
"You're the bestest mommy in the whole world."  -Cynthia Chase
"Give me some sugar!"  -Sandy Watson
"If in doubt, sit on mum and look deep-eyed at the woman with the camera...maybe we'll become viral!"  -The Orangutan Tropical Peatland Project (via Twitter)

Happy Valentine's Day and thanks to everyone who participated in our contest!

Special thanks to Zanna Clay for sharing her beautiful bonobo photographs with PEN.  The photo featured in this blog was taken at Lola Ya Bonobo, the world's only sanctuary for orphaned bonobos.
