Social Good Fund provides PEN with non-profit status and fiscal sponsorship services. Through our partnership, PEN can accept tax-deductible donations.
Eric Losh, Author and Illustrator
Eric Losh is an artist and wildlife enthusiast who lives in Brooklyn, NY. He is the author and illustrator of the children's book, "The Chorus of Kibale." The book teaches readers about the importance of listening, teamwork, and primate diversity in Uganda's Kibale National Park. His passion for conservation and children's education led him to partner with PEN to contribute funds from his book sales to support our 2015 Lessons Learned Challenge Prize Contest. He also donated copies of his book, The Chorus of Kibale, to our 2016 Uganda workshop participants. Additionally, Eric illustrated our 2013 and 2015 holiday cards.
Big Blue Marble
Big Blue Marble's (BBM) mission is to provide educational programs and books for children to learn about and protect our planet’s endangered species and natural resources. BBM donated copies of their Let's Make A Difference: We Can Help Protect Mountain Gorillas and Orangutans children's book series for PEN's Educator Toolkits, which were distributed at our 2016 Empowering Educators & Building a National Task Force to Protect Primates in Uganda training workshop.
Primate Connections produces an annual calendar that highlights 12 different primate species and organizations, including PEN! 2015 calendar proceeds benefited primate educators working in Latin America, Africa, and Asia through PEN's Storytelling Challenge Prize Contest. PEN partnered with Silver Temptation, nature-inspired jewelry from Malaysia, to offer beautifully handmade sterling silver monkey and lemur earrings, necklaces, and brooches. We sell Silver Temptation jewelry at local events in the Bay Area and at international conferences.
Sky Blue Designs
Sky Blue Designs joined PEN as a partner in 2015. It was founded by Nicole Stachowicz Powers, who is based in San Jose, California. The ceramic beads featured in Sky Blue Designs’ Teeny Tiny Animals and Figures line come from a family-owned company near Cusco, Peru. The company employs over 40 people who have created these miniature works of art by hand for more than 10 years.
Daughter Earth: Illustration for the Wild By Katy Tanis
Katy Tanis designs graphics and textiles for the boutique children's brand Tea Collection. She has traveled the world to meet artisans and work with endangered species. Katy partnered with PEN to design our 2014 spider monkey holiday card. In 2015, PEN received a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Katy's gibbon and orangutan t-shirts.
Zoo Miami's Zoological Society of Florida
The Zoological Society of Florida (ZSF) is the non-profit support organization for Zoo Miami. ZSF is one of the largest membership organizations in South Florida. They partnered with PEN to support our April 2014 workshop, Promoting Conservation in Colombia Through Training and Collaboration in Education. ZSF also provided support to PEN's field-based Regional Coordinators in 2015 and donated supplies for our Applying Creativity & Behavior Change Frameworks in Primate Education Program Design training workshop in 2016.
World Wildlife Fund Education for Nature Program
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) knows that investing in training and education is critical for biodiversity conservation. The Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program provides support to conservation leaders in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to gain the skills and knowledge they needed to address the conservation challenges in their home countries. PEN received a grant to support our April 2014 workshop in Bogota (Promoting Conservation in Colombia Through Training and Collaboration in Education) and December 2014 follow up workshop in Cartagena (Strengthening Collaborative Learning in Colombian Primate Education).
Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, Conservation International (CI) empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity. CI (through the Margot Marsh Biodiversity Foundation's Primate Action Fund) supported PEN's August 2013 workshop in Brazil, Primate Conservation Education: Evaluating the Status and Needs in Latin America, our symposium, panel, and workshop at the August 2014 International Primatological Society (IPS) Congress in Vietnam, and Regional Coordinator for Brazil to participate in the 2016 IPS Congress in Chicago, Illinois.
Solomon W. Jagwe
Solomon W. Jagwe is a talented Ugandan Film Director, Animator, and 3D Artist. Solomon contributed proceeds to PEN from his Nkoza and Nankya crowdfunding campaign in 2014.
Primate Society of Great Britain
The Primate Society of Great Britain (PSGB) is a UK society affiliated with the International Primatological Society and the European Federation for Primatology. PSGB was founded in 1967 to promote research on all aspects of primate biology, conservation, and management. In 2013, PSGB's Conservation Working Party selected PEN for funding from the Born Free Foundation.
Born Free Foundation
The Born Free Foundation is a dynamic international wildlife charity, devoted to compassionate conservation and animal welfare. Born Free takes action worldwide to protect threatened species and stop individual animal suffering. Born Free awarded funding to PEN through PSGB in 2013.
Rochen Ltd. specializes in providing highly reliable and lightening fast web hosting with full ‘out of the box’ compatibility for popular scripts like Joomla, Drupal, and WordPress. They generously provide free hosting for PEN's website.
Ape Alliance is an international coalition of organizations and individuals, working for the conservation and welfare of apes. It exists to provide a forum for discussion, develop position papers, lobby collectively for enactment and enforcement of legislation, campaign for greater public awareness, and facilitate information exchange between ape member groups. PEN is a corresponding member of Ape Alliance.
Wildlife Conservation Network
Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) protects endangered species and preserves their natural habitats by supporting entrepreneurial conservationists who pursue innovative strategies for people and wildlife to co-exist and thrive. PEN partnered with WCN as an Associate to exhibit at their Wildlife Conservation Expo in San Francisco, California in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 (spring and fall).
Brendan Wenzel, Illustrator
Brendan Wenzel is an illustrator whose work has appeared internationally in children’s books, animations, and magazines. An ardent conservationist, he is a proud collaborator with many organizations working to ensure the future of wild places and threatened species, especially within Southeast Asia. Brendan partnered with PEN to illustrate primates for our website.
Anthony Nguyen, Art Director and Graphic Designer
Anthony Nguyen is an art director and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, NY with Tango & Sons. Anthony redesigned our logo, in collaboration with Brendan Wenzel, and created a style guide to set a standard for PEN's visual identity and overall brand strategy.
